Yes, despite the fact that the book is more about India's journey to Rocket science, despite the fact that I did not understood a major chunk of the sentences, I was not able to put it down till I finished reading it. Read the complete review at: Dream Vs Nightmare.
It was a long time ago that i read this book but what remains is a passion that burned forth from its pages. The author a once scientist and the former president of India among other things had a vision for the entire nation.
The book, autobiographical in nature tells the tale of a man who embodied simplicity but lived in a higher plane of thought than us mere mortals. And less of Dr. Kalam as a person. I had hoped to know a lot more about Dr. Abdul Kalam through this book. But it was a disappointment. I got to know more about the technical details of rockets and missiles. But then that is the way he is passionate about his work I guess!
It is a good book but a little boring one, no offense to the author. The only downside is the jargon of aeronautic words used in it. Level of English: Intermediate - Tough.
Wish I had some command on Physics before i began to read this book, didn't get much of the technical work elaborated in book but would for sure fill zeal among science passionate guys. Just give a go, It gives a traces of work management and the perseverance qualities one should posses. My respect for the man just increased tenfold.
I wish all young Indians would read his autobiography and be humbled and inspired. The scientific terminologies spanning some pages are a little off putting but even among these are hidden his words of wisdom.
The is amazing and will totally inspire you. But as for the stars the book talks in depth about Sir Abdul Kalam's work and for some part where he has described in such detail about the engineering work that its too much to take in. But apart for that a book worth reading. I suppose it is because Indians have been both afflicted and enriched by centuries of migration.
Loyalty to different rulers has dulled our capacity for single allegiance. Instead, we have developed an extraordinary ability to be compassionate and cruel, sensitive and callous, deep and fickle, all at the same time. He was a part of these projects with a team of brilliant scientist and engineers and how he contributed for it.
The people around him, his mentors, his parents, his co-workers, helped him and supported him to be what he had grown to be.
After leaving his native place for studies, Abdul Kalam kept growing and kept moving forward, never did he stop nor did he looked back. He did believe in God and in science and that they go hand in hand and that every human has a role to play in. They come through you but not from you. You may give them your love but not your thoughts. For they have their own thoughts. A humbling read. His accomplishments and vision are unmatched as is his modesty. Pleasantly and wonderfully surprised by his deeply spiritual side; and oh, what a beautiful poet!
The technical details and matter-of-fact narration made me impatient in parts, but I think in retrospect that the non-glamorous narration style perhaps fit the man better than anything else. The magic lies in the intermittent poetry.
I cannot not mention the deep sense of patriotism he weaves along in this story, convi A humbling read. I cannot not mention the deep sense of patriotism he weaves along in this story, convincing ever-skeptical Indians of their rightful place in the global technological map, while still on Indian soil. Thank you, Dr. I was too young to realize then, but I swell with pride that an intellectual like you, pure and generous in intention and action, served as the Head of our state. The book did speak to me about my own choices and priorities, both professional and personal.
Not just mine, but a generation as a whole. But that's a conversation for another day. Dr Kalam was a man who reached heights despite being from a very small town, and growing with the most humble of backgrounds. Most people know him as the president of the country and assume that is his claim to fame but he was much more than that. He was an highly educated and dignified man who wrote this book to educate people a about his life and journey Dr Kalam was a man who reached heights despite being from a very small town, and growing with the most humble of backgrounds.
He was an highly educated and dignified man who wrote this book to educate people a about his life and journey and more importantly on how to live well. He gave various example of the confusion and hardship he faced like many of us, but his faith in God and unending belief in the possibility of change kept him going. He wanted everyone to have wings of fire, whether he was talking about rockets or in life.
Collection Wings of Fire is a collection of events happened in the author's life and his thoughts about them. The reader gets to read about his life starting from a small town in Rameshwaram to becoming a scientist, and lastly, one of the presidents of India. His journey is no less than exciting, and a testament to India's rising in space and technology field. However, I was baffled when I realized at the end that he didn't mention anything about India building its first satellite Aryabhata.
Of cour Collection Wings of Fire is a collection of events happened in the author's life and his thoughts about them. Of course, it took me by surprise.
Akshat Solanki I liked this book.
I wanted to like it more to be honest. I absolutely love the personality of Dr. Kalam and was teary eyed to hear of his death. This is his autobiography and I heard it as an udiobook on storytel narrated by Girish Karnad. At pages, and audio length of less than 2 hours, I went through it fairly quickly. I would have liked more depth and details from Dr. That's my only issue with the book. I hope everyone gets to know what a great man he was. We have heard of him.
We have seen people going all praises for him. Once you've read this book, you learn that your former President was worth all the sensation around him.
You realize that no matter how left-behind you have been feeling till now, you are no different than the exceptional person you've read about lately. The book is truly inspirational.
He meant agnichirakukal word of agnichirakukal thanks. My respect for the man just increased tenfold. This autobiographical account gets a bit technical due to in-depth explanation of rocketry, miss This book is a must read for agnichirakukal Indian to know one of the greatest men of our country. Must read for people interested agnichirakukal pure and research sciences,Sometime you feel how cautious kalam be it in selection of words or agnichirakukal he wants to portray.
The book, autobiographical in nature tells the tale of a man who embodied simplicity but lived in a higher plane of thought agnichirakukal us mere mortals. I had hoped to know a lot more about Dr. Sarabhai; the story of a scientist tested by failures and setbacks; the story of a agnichirakuoal supported by a agnichirakukal team of brilliant and dedicated professionals.
